Evaluation Repositories
Yes. In this case, simply put in the section column the name of your repository and use the sub-section column to enter your sections.
Yes, as long as you specify how to score each question with associated instructions.
The Evalu+ application is built around the philosophy of pursuing an end goal (best practice or critical requirement). However, if you would like to make the intermediate maturity stages visible in Evalu+ to better guide the scoring process or to set intermediate goals, you can import them as "illustration/explanation" hyperlinks. That way, user will be able to first view the best practice associated to a particular criterion, then click on the "illustration/explanation" link to access the intermediate stages.
There is no limit on the number of characters, however as the best practice / requirement appears in a fixed-size window and it may not be much reader-friendly to ha to go through a large chunk of text through this window. A better option might be to give access to the content through the associated hyperlink. In this case, the content will appear in a full browser page.
Your repository must have at least 4 columns with the same number of cells populated: Section, Sub-section, Excellence (or Compliance) criterion, Best practice (or Requirement) description. You can optionally insert hyperlinks in a 5th column that will be characterized in the application as "Illustration / Explanation", and use as many subsequent columns to specify metadata. The imported metadata name will correspond to the name you put in the column header. You can put anything you want in the first 5 column headers - these won't be imported into the application.
Please do not merge cells as the import would not work.
The application will allow you to choose all open Excel files. Once you select an open file, the worksheet that will be imported (assuming it meets the import criteria) is the active worksheet.
If the import button is not active it means that either one of the following criteria are not met: 1) At least 2 cells populated in the first 4 columns (not counting the column header) ; 2) Equal number of cells populated in these columns (you can view if this is actually the case in the import screen)
It is certainly a valuable exercise to structure your domain expertise into a repository of best practices, segmented in excellence criteria regrouped in sub-sections and/or sections. Should you want to undertake this exercise, we recomment you to proceed as follows: 1) Segment your domain in meaningful sections corresponding to particular business processes or areas of knowledge, not exceeding 10 sections ; 2) When applicable, segment each section in sub-sections, corresponding to sub-business processes or sub-areas of knowledge ; 3) For each sub-section (or section if skipped step 2). identify the key performance variable, in other words the elements of the process or knowledge area that have a significant impact on the outcome ; 3) Specify a name for this key performance variable that is as self-explanatory as possible ; 4) specify the best practice in synthetic, unequivocal, all-encompassing and jargon-free terms ; 5) test your repository on a representative sample of your population before mass marketing it.
